Every mother's fear

I lost Breanna in the mall for the first time today, but found her quickly, thanks to a security guard and a nice lady in Merle Norman (next to Payless, which Breanna ran out of, wearing unpurchased sandals, when I was around the corner of the aisle and she couldn't find me). See, this is why I don't take my children places.

I was irritated at first, because I never would have imagined she would leave the store alone. I thought she was still in there (tiny store - 4 aisles) and just hiding around a corner or something. She had just been there trying on all the purses and backpacks and stuff. Once I was sure she wasn't in there any more, and I stepped out and looked around the mall hallway and saw all the busy people but not her, that's when I got scared!! I approached the 85-year-old security guard on his wheely thingy and then I heard his walkie talkie say "We have a little girl who has lost her mom at Merle Norman," so I found out that was right by Payless, turned around toward it and saw her coming out holding a woman's hand. The lady commented that she figured she had been in Payless since her sandals had the tags on them! So, yes, we're glad to be together again, and hopefully she'll stay closer to me in stores from now on!!!

Barking?

Breanna got the idea somewhere that barking at bees/wasps/flies will scare them away. This is very funny, but hopefully the neighbors don't think we're total weirdos.

Swirlies

The other night after a bath, Breanna wanted to put lotion on herself. I gave her a little bit that looked like a "C", or the start of a swirl on her hand. To skip to the end, this soon degenerated into a fit with her screaming, "I want a BIG swirlie, NOT a little swirlie!!!!!" repetitively at the top of her lungs and me laughing at her ignorance of swirlies.

Fairies and Princesses

We had little princess stuff as party favors for Katelyn's 1st birthday celebration tonight, and after the party, Breanna wanted me to wear the jewelry with her. Alas, I have a big head, and the very small necklace wouldn't fit over it. Shane has a rather small head (his hat size is 1/2" smaller than mine), so I suggested she try it on Daddy. She replied, "Okay, Daddy can be a fairy!" Um, no. But he is secure enough in his masculinity that he did wear the necklace (and the bracelet, and some lip gloss)!

The stool at the table

Breanna can't sit still at the table, so I said she would have to stand up to eat, but she wants to stand on a stool. The footstool nearby is very rickety, so she said, "I'll go get my bathroom stool. It's handy and standy."
