Katelyn's wit

Pulling Katelyn out of bed for Breanna's 2nd day of Choral Festival, waaaaaay too early, she laid there seemingly still asleep and motionless for quite a while.  Finally, after much poking and prodding, she said, "This is how it works.  You have to carry me to the restroom."

Then on the way there, I was telling Breanna I was going to leave in plenty of time to come pick her up on time, since I didn't want to be late.  I guess she was preparing Breanna for the possibility of us being late anyway, and her getting worried, so Katelyn wisely told her, "If you start to cry, try to stop crying."

Drama Mama

As Katelyn walked off the bus today, she put her hand up and said, with great dramatic flair, "Worst day of my life!" When I asked why, she said they didn't get activity time because the boys in class were misbehaving. Sad that happened, but her drama was so hysterical that as I walked around the car to get in my side, I had a pretty good laugh.

Things you never thought you'd hear your 5 year old say...to your husband...

What are you doing?  WHAT ARE YOU DOING?  Aw, you farted on my leg!!  You're not allowed to fart in my room, and THAT'S THE LAW!!!

Tally Marks

Katelyn is having trouble remembering that when you make tally marks, the 5th one should slash across the other 4, showing you a nice little group of 5 that's easier to count.  She got frustrated, and said, "That's why I don't like Italian marks!!"  :-)

Song Titles

Nothing incredibly earth-shattering here, but I just always want to remember Katelyn's guess for the tune of Feliz Navidad.  The girls were betting how many notes they could guess titles in, and when I played that one, Katelyn shouted out, "A-lees Mah-di-da".  That one made me lol.  :-)  I gave both girls a point for that one, since Breanna knew the correct title.  :-)

That's a long walk

So after Shane's birthday dinner out, we were driving home, and Katelyn was receiving texts on her real-but-not-active phone.  Apparently her boyfriend Ken, who lives in Dakota, and is very in love with her, was texting her because he doesn't have a car and it's a long drive to Dakota.  Shane asked her if he had a job, because dads need to know these things.  She didn't know, so I said, "Does he live with his parents?  In their basement?" and she said, "He doesn't have a mom or dad."  Shane said, "Well, then how did he get on this earth?" and she said, "He had to walk."  (Her story ended up being that they actually lived in Dakota for 5 years, but are in heaven now.)

Different "P" Word

We read an article in a National Geographic magazine Breanna brought home today, and I went through the vocabulary list at the end, alternating between each daughter.  Of course, Katelyn didn't know any of them, since she hadn't really been listening, but on her turn I asked her what a predator was anyway.  She said, "Of the United States?"  Well, I guess that depends on who you ask!  :-)
